just thought i’d post this video i found from the pina bausch piece Vollmond that some of us saw recently in new york. i think that since then i’ve just been trying to recapture the magic of that dance experience, and trying to pinpoint what exactly it is about the work that i’ve been calling “magic.” maybe it is simply because i have not felt excited by the possiblities of dance in a long time, and this work rejuvenated my thirst for exploration. anyway, here is an excerpt from vollmond, i wanted to share it because being able to see this piece meant a lot to me. dominique mercy, the soloist, has been dancing with pina since 1974. pretty incredible. everyone enjoy your holidays and jterms! see you in feb.
